Terms of Service

Effective August 24, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and The Social Company of the United States, Inc. ("we", "us"). They cover your use of Bantr, a text-message assistant. By texting Bantr or creating an account, you agree to them. If you do not agree, stop using Bantr. How we handle your information is covered separately in our Privacy Policy.

Who can use Bantr

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. You can use Bantr on your own, or share a thread with someone else; a few features only work once both people have joined. You are responsible for everything done through your phone number.

Messaging terms

Bantr works over text. By giving us your phone number you agree to receive messages from us at that number, including automated ones. Message frequency varies with how much you use it. Message and data rates may apply — that is between you and your carrier.

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, and HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Accounts you connect

You can connect outside accounts — a calendar, an email inbox, a bank, a brokerage. When you do, you authorize Bantr to access that account for the purposes described at the time you connect it and in our Privacy Policy. You can disconnect at any time from your account settings, or revoke access directly with the provider. We ask for the narrowest permissions the feature needs.

Only connect accounts you own or are authorized to use. Those providers have their own terms, and nothing here changes your agreement with them.

What you share with your partner

Bantr keeps a boundary between what you put in your private thread and what appears in the shared one. That boundary is described in how you're protected and in the Privacy Policy. Understand it before you connect anything, and do not put information into a shared thread that you do not intend the other person to see.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Bantr to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else do so;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate, or surveil another person;
  • access an account, calendar, or inbox you are not authorized to access;
  • send unsolicited bulk messages through it;
  • probe, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service or the systems behind it.

We can suspend or end access that we reasonably believe is doing any of the above.

Bantr uses AI, and AI gets things wrong

Bantr generates its replies with AI models. It can misread a request, miss something, or state something incorrectly with total confidence. Check anything that matters before you rely on it — especially dates, amounts, money movements, and messages sent on your behalf.

Nothing Bantr says is legal, medical, tax, or investment advice. Where it shows balances, spending, or holdings, it is describing data it read from accounts you connected; it is not a bank, a broker, or a financial adviser, and figures can be stale or wrong. Decisions you make are yours.

Actions Bantr takes for you

Some features act in the world — creating a calendar event, sending an email as you. Bantr takes those actions because you asked it to, and it asks you to confirm before sending mail on your behalf. You are responsible for what goes out under your name. Review a draft before you approve it.

Your content

What you write stays yours. You give us the permission we need to operate the service — storing your messages, processing them with our providers, and showing them back to you and (where you have chosen to share) to your partner. We do not sell your content, and we do not use data from connected Google accounts to train generalized AI models.

Our content

Bantr, its name, its logo, and the software behind it are ours. These terms do not give you any right to use our branding, or to copy, resell, or build a competing service out of the product.

Price and changes to the service

Some features may be paid. If we charge you, we will tell you the price and what it covers before you are charged. We may add, change, or retire features as the product develops, and we may set reasonable limits on use.

Ending it

You can stop at any time — text STOP, or ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We can suspend or end an account that violates these terms, that we are required to act on, or if we stop offering the service. Sections that by their nature should survive — content ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability, disputes — survive.

Disclaimers

Bantr is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Bantr will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will deliver or receive every message.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or missed events, appointments, or payments. Our total liability for any claim relating to Bantr is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100.

Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which we are organized, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing anything, email us — most problems are faster to fix that way.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update the date above, and we will tell you in your thread before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Bantr after that is your acceptance of the updated terms.
